The Benalla Botanica Horticultural Conference, to be held on October 26-28 2007, will look at how to make the change from water hungry gardening in a creative way - the theme is Gardens in a Changing Climate.

Benalla Botanica is an innovative and informative event for both garden lovers and garden professionals, as well as providing a great excuse to visit North East Victoria. Botanica features outstanding international and national designers and horticulturalists including America's Dan Hinkley, the world's most exciting modern day plant hunter. There will be garden tours of local Benalla gardens, workshops, trade displays, exhibitions and food and wine inlcuded in the cost.

Benalla is only 2 hours north of Melbourne via the Hume or V/Line.

Participants include:

  • Designer and The Age writer Michael McCoy
  • Georgina Martyn from Award-winning BoldSimplicity
  • Peter Nixon from Sydney-based Paradisus Garden Design
  • Arron Wood, Environmentalist and Winner of the 2006 United Nations Individual Award for Outstanding Service to the Environment
  • Plantsman and designer William Martin whose drought tolerant garden, Wigandia, is acclaimed as a new way forward
  • Lambley nursery's David Glenn
  • Philip Stray from Melbourne's Crafted Landscapes and
  • Zoe Monotti who totally transformed her Geelong garden in response to extreme water shortage.
