The People’s Charter to Create a Nonviolent World will be launched simultaneously on 11 November 2011 at many locations around the world.

The aim of this Charter is to create a worldwide movement to end violence in all its forms. The People’s Charter will give voice to the millions of ordinary people around the world who want an end to war, oppression, environmental destruction and violence of all kinds. We hope that this Charter will support and unite the courageous nonviolent struggles of ordinary people all over the world.

"The People’s Charter to Create a Nonviolent World" includes critical action on the ongoing climate catastrophe. We have nine countries conducting launch events so far of which the Melbourne event is just one. Importantly, 'The People's Charter' includes reference to 'The Flame Tree Project to Save Life on Earth' which outlines a comprehensive strategy to tackle all environmental (and other violence-related) issues.

Come to hear ten ordinary people spend two minutes each telling you why they are signing the Charter and then, if it feels right to you, come up on stage and sign the Charter yourself.

The signing ceremony will be accompanied by the singing of Anita McKone and others.
