The almost-complete kitchen. The main benchtop is recycled Messmate which was recovered (upcycled) from a demolished old Melbourne factory, while the perimeter benchtop is 'Eco-Top', a composite made from recycled paper, bamboo, and bound with a non-toxic, zero-VOC water based resin.
All panelboard (including doors) is zero formaldehyde.
All lighting is with LED, the cooktop is electric induction, and the main oven is in fact an advanced convection microwave. Sitting on the benchtop next to the sink is a Sunnybeam Solar display, which show data from the PV system.
All main living flooring is polished concrete which is finished with a zero-VOC water-based varnish.
The fridge is fed cold air from a duct that runs under the concrete slab to the shaded cool courtyard on the South side of the house.
