The Portland sustainable cottage is inspired by writings such as Thoreau's Walden and Portland, Oregon's green building movement. The goal was to create an inspiring space in a humble dwelling in Portland's (United States) south-west hills by constructing a "green" cottage. Total costs, including land and site development, have been less than $70,000.
