Natural snail killer

The yeasty gloop at the bottom of a vessel that's been used to make beer or cider can be used as a natural snail killer.

Put the gloop in the cut-off bases of plastic bottles and scatter these bases in the garden.

The snails appear to like a drink and the alcohol acts as a poison. This is a much more eco-friendly technique than using snail pellets. And maybe the snails go out a bit more happily this way.

This is a nice example of what's sometimes called Industrial Ecology where what would otherwise be seen as waste is used as an input to another productive purpose.
